Well, guys, I have decided it is time to pick up my blogging game! Putting myself out there and putting time into my blogging really isn’t my strong suit, but I am sure you all would like to get to know me a bit better. So, I am making a commitment to put more time and energy into this. And, first topic?! My favorite wedding venues in the area as well as those I dream of working at!
Typically, venues, planners and photographers are the first things that engaged couples search for, so I thought it would be a good idea to let you in on a few of my favorites out there. I know there are too many choices to count, so hopefully this helps shorten your list a bit!
First of all, let’s be clear about this: Every wedding is special, no matter where the venue is, what the flowers look like, or how the food tastes. Seriously, I mean that to my core. If two people who are deeply in love are present and happy with their families and friends there to support them the other stuff just fades away and the emotions shine through even brighter. Truly. Two people in love celebrating with their community are the most beautiful thing in the world, it really doesn’t matter what form that takes. The other stuff is just icing on the cake.
That being said, here are my favorite Portland-area spaces I have had the pleasure of shooting in!
Vista Hills Vineyard in Dundee, OR: This winery is very special. The property looks like Tuscany, Italy and the venue itself has the most beautiful wood tones and modern architecture. Plus, they have a planner on staff to help you through the planning process! You’ll find their website HERE!
Cooper’s Hall in Portland, OR: I love this well-lit industrial space located in the Central Eastside Industrial District. The space is modern and tasteful, and the food they serve there is AMAZING! So incredibly delicious! More information for your event on their website HERE! If you’d like to see a full wedding shot at Cooper’s Hall, check out our work HERE!
PNCA in Portland, OR: This gorgeous old-meets-new space hosts weddings! Their white walls and dramatic create gorgeous backdrops for photos even if the Portland weather outside let’s you down. Don’t worry: you’ll be covered! Follow the link HERE for more inormation!
Red Ridge Farms in Dayton, OR: Olive branches, red clay soil, and well-tended gardens make this spot a true beauty! Check it out HERE!
The Oregon Coast in Newport, OR and beyond: There is nothing more beautiful than an outdoor wedding on the ocean. Even if the weather is moody and rainy, there is nothing more beautiful than the coast!
Opal 28 in Portland, OR: This little venue has the most beautiful built-in and concrete wall I have seen, and I love shooting in their light. With the curtains wide-open, the concrete looks soooo dreamy. Check them out if you are having a smaller event–they’re also very sweet people! Check out the space HERE!
Any and all vineyards! I mean, just look at my previous list; about half of them are vineyards! I love the grapes and the countryside. Those two things allow for so many photo opportunities, believe me!
Yale Union in Portland, OR: This space is SO incredibly beautiful with the amazing clean white walls and the stunning light! This space would be absolutely dreamy for a wedding day! Plus, this location is actually a non-profit, so you can feel good about where your money is going! The link for the space is HERE!
The Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood: Winter wedding, anyone!? Oh, my goodness, snowy photos always seem like they turn out to be the most beautiful photos, and I am DYING to take some! Seriously. DYING! To be honest, the summer weddings look like they are as equally gorgeous as the winter ones though! A mountaintop as your backdrop!? Wowza! Event information HERE!
Pearson Air Museum in Vancouver, WA: This historic hangar is such a creative and fun choice for a wedding location! I am all about bright, industrial spaces, so this place is spot on! Check out more information HERE!
Cathedral Park: It’s definitely one of Portlanders’ favorite wedding locations, and I am dying to shoot underneath the St. John’s Bridge. More information HERE!
Aren’t there so many amazing venues in the Portland area!?!? I’m sure I haven’t even scratched the surface! I can’t wait to hear about where you are getting married!
Happy planning and hugs!
